We offer culturally affirming mental health support from licensed Black therapists who understand your lived experiences. Our services include anxiety treatment, depression support, trauma recovery, and guidance through life transitions. This is your space to heal, grow, and feel seen.

Therapy 4 Us by Us !

Depression

Depression is common, but it is also deeply personal — and it does not mean you’re weak. With the right support, healing is possible. Our therapists provide a safe, affirming space where Black women can explore their emotions without judgment, understand the roots of their pain, and learn tools to rebuild balance, motivation, and self‑compassion.

Anxiety

While anxiety is common, it doesn’t have to control your life. With culturally affirming support, you can learn to understand your triggers, calm your mind, and build healthier ways to cope. Our therapists create a safe, supportive space where Black women can explore their experiences, release emotional tension, and regain a sense of balance and confidence.

Trauma

Trauma is the emotional and physical response to deeply distressing experiences that overwhelm your ability to cope. It can come from sudden events or long‑term situations — and for many Black women, trauma is often layered, complex, and connected to experiences that have been minimized or misunderstood.

Maternal Mental Health

Maternal mental health focuses on the emotional well‑being of women during pregnancy, after childbirth, and throughout the journey of motherhood. For Black women, this experience can be shaped by unique stressors — medical bias, cultural expectations to “be strong,” limited support, and the pressure to balance family, work, and personal identity.

Couples and Family Therapy

Relationships are powerful, but they can also be complex. Couples and family therapy provides a supportive space for Black women and their loved ones to navigate challenges, improve communication, and build healthier, more connected relationships. Whether you’re working through conflict, adjusting to life changes, or trying to rebuild trust, therapy can help you move forward together with clarity and compassion.

Sleep Issues/ Insomnia

Compassionate, culturally responsive therapy designed to help Black women overcome insomnia, stress-related sleep issues, anxiety, burnout, and emotional exhaustion. Our approach supports healthier sleep habits, emotional wellness, and restorative rest for a more balanced and empowered life.

Career Counseling

Career counseling provides guidance, clarity, and support as you navigate your professional journey. Whether you’re exploring new opportunities, facing workplace challenges, or striving for advancement, this service helps you align your career path with your strengths, values, and long‑term goals.

LGBTQA+

LGBTQ+ affirming therapy provides a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for individuals exploring or embracing their sexual orientation, gender identity, or relationship experiences. For Black LGBTQ+ women, the journey can be layered — shaped by cultural expectations, family dynamics, discrimination, and the pressure to navigate multiple identities at once.

Grief

Grief is a natural response to losing someone or something deeply meaningful. It can touch every part of your life — your emotions, your body, your relationships, and your sense of identity. For many Black women, grief is often carried quietly, layered with expectations to stay strong, keep going, and care for others even while your own heart is breaking.

Our Clinicians

Dr. Teri D. Davis

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I practice trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy with a hint of psychodynamic and family systems therapy. All of these explore how you think about yourself and the world, working through painful life experiences that have shaped you, while understanding the resulting feelings and behaviors. I am a very talkative therapist who asks many thought-provoking questions and works with patients to better understand themselves and the path forward.

Mrs. Etta’s Place offers REAL therapy, where we are not afraid to discuss difficult topics and situations; it's all on the table! No judgement, confidentiality in place, and true healing of emotional wounds.

Come and spill the tea!!!
